Boston Symphony Orchestra in LA 12/10/11

December 13, 2011

It was nice to listen Boston Symphony last Saturday in Disney Concert Hall. The concert was thier last stop on this west coast tour before going home. Brahms violin concerto is a special piece, and Gil Shaham and BSO seemed having a great time playing together. It is not Chopin’s piano concerto, it is more like chamber music in many moment. Oboe solo in slow movement was beautiful—-. After the intermission the orchestra played 2 pieces, Harbison: Symphony No. 4, the composer was in the hall,  and Ravel: Daphnis and Chloe Suite #2. Ravel was very visual. I was imagining the scenes from Watteau paintings, birds flying, nymphs singing, lakes and forests—. After the concert we saw some old friends in BSO  from Houston time. It was a very enjoyable evening.
