7th performance on Goldberg Variations in Santa Rosa, CA 10/24/13

October 24, 2013

I finished my 7th performance on J. S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations (I have done some presentations on this work for 3 times and performed portions for 6-7  times. ) on Saturday October 12. I have been living with Goldberg for a while. I look back when I started to learn, and I still remember how excited and nervous I was. Because I never performed this length of work in my life. I grew up listening many recordings of Goldberg, and finally it was my turn to play! I progressed little by little. I made a plan to study and practice for several variations per week. Then I performed portions of an entire work for several occasions, and in 9 months I had a first concert. And each performance I had a different experience performing through it. And I am happy to say I feel very positive on my 7th performance in Santa Rosa. I could get into the music without fear or nervousness, and I had a fabulous time performing it. And I could feel that the audience was listening deeply. It was so quiet. For now I don’t have a plan to perform Goldberg, but I am sure I will bring it back near future. It is a great piece to live with.
